This is the UFC 161 undercard live blog for the Evans vs. Henderson event at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.
There will be six fights on the UFC 161 undercard. Jake Shields vs. Tyron Woodley, Sam Stout vs. James Krause, Sean Pierson vs. Kenny Robertson, Roland Delorme vs. Edwin Figueroa, Mitch Clarke vs. John Maguire, and Yves Jabouin vs. Dustin Pague will be featured on the prelims.

Yves Jabouin vs. Dustin Pague
Round 1: The referee in charge is Adam Cheadle. Both fighters open orthodox. Jabouin scores with a body kick and right hand that send Pague to the mat. PAgue working a triangle from guard, but Jabouin stuffs it. He then postures up and scores a hard elbow. Pague frames up a triangle, but Jabouin escapes again and scores a right hand. Pague almost scores another submission by locking up an armbar, but Jabouin patiently removes his arm and moves into side control. Pague throws his right leg over for a heel hook several times, but can’t get it. From the 50/50 guard, Pague uses a sramble to sit through and move to mount. He goes for another triangle, but Jabouin escapes and drills Pague with a series of hard right hand.

Round 2: Left hook scores for Jabouin and Pague fires back with two right leg kicks. Foot sweep from Pague plants Jabouin on the mat and Pague moves right to mount. Pague starts to unload punches. Pague locks up a body triangle and moves to his own back, throwing in an arm to RNC Jabouin, but the Canadian stops the choke. Pague moves back to mount. Jabouin recaptures half guard. Jabouin pushes to reclaim base and Pague attempts a triangle in transition, but can’t get it. With Jabouin on top, he begins to crack Pague with elbows and punches.

Round 3: Jabouin on top again in Pague’s guard with a takedown and Jabouin is trying to unload. The referee stands them up for inactivity. Jabouin throws a spin kick and misses and eats an illegal knee as Pague attempts to close distance. Pague wins in a scramble and moves to mount. Jabouin tries to reverse position and Pague scores a triangle in transition, but can’t get it.

Mitch Clarke vs. John Maguire
Round 1: Referee in charge of the action is Jerin Valel. Maguire opens southpaw, Clarke is orthodox. Fighters trading short shots and inside leg kicks. Maguire doing a lot of reacting to Clarke’s minor attacks. Then Maguire is hit with an eye poke. Clarke not landing anything significant, but staying busy. Maguire attempts a single leg and then hits a slide by to get behind Clarke. Clarke locks up a double wrist lock, but Maguire fights out of it. Maguire jumps on Clarke’s back temporarily, but Clarke shakes him off. Clarke also turns into him, scores a separation from the clinch, but finds himself in an identical position after another single to slide by.

Round 2: Clarke sticking and moving with leg kicks to open the second frame. Maguire catches a leg kick and he’s in Clarke’s open guard. Maguire not striking besides busy shots, nor is he making any serious attempt at a pass. Clarke trying to lock up a kimura, but so far nothing. Clarke uses the fence to push off with his feet to hit a reversal and attempts a single on the way up, but lets it go. Maguire grabs a single and uses it to take the back, this time on the ground.

Round 3: Clarke scores a knee to the face of Maguire after a failed takedown attempt. Left hand scores for Maguire, but he eats several in response from Clarke. They hang out in the clinch, but the referee separates them for inactivity. Maguire again takes the back after the single leg. Maguire scores the body triangle. Clarke trying to use the cage to create a scramble, but so far nothing doing. Clarke reverses position and is in Maguire’s guard. Clarke scores with a big punch and briefly another while also landing in side control. He ends the bout landing several hard shots.

Roland Delorme vs. Edwin Figueroa
Round 1: Yves Lavigne is the referee. Both fighters open orthodox. Delorme attempts a single, can’t get it, but takes Figueroa’s back in a scramble. Delorme locks up a body triangle. In fighting it off and trying to reverse position he scores a triangle, but can’t finish it. Figueroa on top in Delorme’s guard now. Figueroa is throwing wide shots on top and Delorme is eating heavy shots. Delorme misses on a heel hook, but uses it to take the back and then side control as Figueroa rolls. Delorme scores a body triangle that traps Figueroa’s right arm from the back.

Round 2: Delorme shoots on a single and he uses it to get behind Figueroa. Out of nowhere, Figueroa locks up a triangle, but Delorme manages to posture up and move into Figueroa’s full guard. Delorme passes to side. Figueroa rolls and gets his back taken again. Delorme tries to move to mount and Figueroa stuffs it. Figueroa working from Delorme’s full guard. Hard elbow and vicious ground and pound from Figueroa. Delorme stands from behind Figueroa and takes his back again.

Round 3: Delorme closes distance again and ends up on Figueroa’s back with a body triangle. Delorme gets aggressive from the back and slips off. Figueroa tags him with a right hand. Delorme clinches, scores a knee, but fails on a single leg attempt. Left hook lands for Figueroa and an uppercut. Delorme scores a double, turns the corner and is on top now. Side control for Delorme and now his back again. Figueroa manages to work on top and he is pounding on Delorme.

Sean Pierson vs. Kenny Robertson
Round 1: Herb Dean is the referee in charge. Pierson is southpaw and Robertson is orthodox. Robertson tries for a takedown, but can’t get it. Robertson in again on a single, but Pierson sprawls. Robertson scores after turning the corner and now he has Pierson’s back with a body triangle. Pierson spins out of it and is looking for a front choke. They separate.
Robertson with an outside leg kick. Robertson scores with a right hand and tries to trip, but Pierson whizzers to hang on. Pierson again from the top sprawl position and scores a short knee, but Robertson stands. Uppercut for Pierson and a right hand.

Round 2: Middle kick scores for Robertson. Pierson returns the favor and lands on the head. Robertson taking deep breaths. Spinning back fist lands a bit for Kenny Robertson. Pierson drives him back with a one-two. Left hand now for Pierson and a head kick. Robertson shoots and again Pierson sprawls with a front choke. Robertson hits a peek out and is now in Pierson’s full guard.

Round 3: Overhand right from Robertson and an elbow. Pierson is rocked. Now a knee lands and another right hook. Pierson shooting for a single, can’t get it. Robertson rolls for a d’arce, but can’t get it. Takes the back instead. Robertson scores with smaller shots on top. Pierson just hanging on here. Just before the final bell, Pierson reverses position.

Sam Stout vs. James Krause
Round 1: Both fighters open orthodox. Stout opening right away with inside leg kicks. Krause misses with a head kick and they clinch along the fence. They separate. Krause with a jab and outside leg kick and a front kick. A knee from Krause also wobbles Stout. Head kick lands for Krause and is taken down, but immediately hits a scissor’s sweep. They stand, but Stout is bleeding to an absurd degree.

Round 2: Stout charging in and Krause lands a front kick plus an outside leg kick. Stout with a left hook and inside leg kick. Stout cracks Krause with a left hook to the body that hurt him, but he’s hanging in. Krause scoring at distance, but nothing hugely significant. Krause scores on a double and ends up in Stout’s butterfly guard. Krause over commits on a punch and Stout uses it to stand, scores with a body kick. Stout starting to warm up and landing more, but Krause is busy as well. Stout turns a takedown attempt from Krause into a takedown of his own.

Round 3: Fighters trade leg kick, but Stout is really active. Stout scores with a right hand and Krause returns the favor, plus land two outside leg kicks. Flying knee from Krause misses. Three punches score for Krause and he’s beginning to press forward. Jab for Stout, but Krause lands an uppercut. Two good jabs now for Krause and he’s cruising a bit here. Stout chases down a double. Krause sits back for a guillotine and he that’s it, Stout taps.

Jake Shields vs. Tyron Woodley
Round 1: The referee in charge is Yves Lavigne. Both fighters open orthodox. Hard body kick from Woodley. Leg kick from Woodley takes Shields off of his feet, but he stands as Woodley stands back. Shields catches a single, but can’t finish it. They’re clinched along the fence. The referee separates them. Decent right hand lands for Woodley. Shields in on another single against the fence.

Round 2: Woodley with another leg kick that lifts Shields off of his feet, but he stands again. Shields tries to catch a kick, can’t and they’re clinching along the fence. Shields raises his elbow to secure a guillotine. Woodley senses it and drops to a knee to avoid any issue. Shields with a body kick, but his takedown is stuffed by Woodley. The referee separates them again.

Round 3: Woodley whiffs on two right hands. Woodley stuffs another takedown attempt and Shields is pressing him into the fence. The referee separates them. Shields in on another takedown and it’s stuffed again. They clinch and the referee separates them again. Spinning back fist lands for Woodley and yet, there Shields is again on a takedown. They clinch. The referee separates them. Woodley with a middle kick. Shields in on another takedown attempt and misses, but Woodley scores with a hard right hand.
