Chris Weidman still has some work to do before he catches up to Anderson Silva when it comes to making bank. The New Yorker, fighting in only his 10th professional bout, captured the UFC middleweight championship last Saturday night at UFC 162, and in doing so, earned $48,000, according to salaries released by the Nevada state athletic commission.
Weidman had a $24,000 purse and also took home a $24,000 win bonus for knocking out Silva.
Those were the disclosed numbers on Weidman’s contract. The second-round finish also garnered him the event’s $50,000 Knockout of the Night award, and it’s likely he will earn far more than those disclosed amounts in additional bonuses.

Silva made a $600,000 guaranteed purse and could have pocketed an extra $200,000 win bonus had he continued his lengthy reign. An established star, Silva also receives a cut of pay-per-view revenue that will easily push his total pay into seven figures.
Frankie Edgar was the second highest earner on the show, as the former UFC lightweight champ made $240,000 total, with half coming from his purse and the other half as a win bonus.
Tim Kennedy’s $90,000 ($60,000 purse, $30,000 win) put him third based upon disclosed pay, although the UFC’s bonus structure keeps total pay numbers private.
