SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Bethe Correia has been on a simply mission in the UFC. She feels she’s going to be the one who takes Ronda Rousey’s UFC bantamweight championship, and she’s not afraid to say it.

After taking out her second member of Rousey’s Four Horsewomen clique, she’s more confident than ever. Correia improved to 9-0 with a nasty and efficient TKO win over veteran Shyana Baszler on Saturday night at Sleep Train Arena, then issued a challenge to the champ.

“I have a message for Ronda Rousey,” Correia said through an interpreter. “I want her belt and I’m coming to take it, the belt is going to be mine.”

Baszler (15-9), who was having her first official fight in nearly two years, actually got the best of things in the opening round. She got Correia into a solid triangle choke and landed elbows and punches from the position. She also got the best of things in clinch.

But the second round was like night and day. Correia stepped up the tempo and put on a striking clinic. Baszler, with her back to the fence did everything in her power to stop it, but the best she could do was simply ride out the storm. She was still standing when referee John McCarthy waved things off at 1:56.

Baszler has dropped three of her past four fights.
