It doesn’t take a medical degree to figure out that Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler were both hurt after their epic UFC 189 welterweight title fight. But it doesn’t hurt, either.
Medical suspensions are in from Saturday night’s card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and it’s possible we won’t see MacDonald compete again next year. He’s been suspended for his fractured nose and foot until Sept. 10 at a minimum; but could be out as long as Jan. 11 of next year if a doctor doesn’t clear him for both injuries. Lawler, meanwhile, is sidelined until Aug. 26 due to his badly cut lip, with no contact allowed until Aug. 11.
