Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has released the full countdown videos for its upcoming UFC 196 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which is set to pop off this Saturday night (March 5, 2016) from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 196 will feature a re-worked, non-title Welterweight main event between Featherweight champion Conor McGregor against “hand-picked” short notice opponent, Nate Diaz.
That’s all because McGregor got company president Dana White in on his plan to “take over” and Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has a broken foot (see pic here). Whatever, seems like it will be a nice scrap for as long as it lasts, and if nothing else, the trash-talking will be epic.
Check out the sizzle reel UFC put together to hype the 170-pound showdown in the “Countdown” video replay above. Meanwhile, not to be outdone, women’s Bantamweight champion Holly Holm will attempt to score her first-ever title defense at the expense of Miesha Tate in the co-main event after wrecking Ronda Rousey late last year to claim the belt.
It’s an odd situation, one that has even been described as a mixed martial arts (MMA) “love triangle.“
