An interesting lightweight bout has been added to the UFC Fight Pass “Prelims” portion of the upcoming UFC 197: “Dos Anjos vs. McGregor” pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place on March 5, 2016 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Diego Sanchez vs. Jim Miller.
Sanchez (25-8) is returning to the 155-pound weight class following an unspectacular debut at featherweight just last month. “The Dream,” once considered a serious title contender at 170 pounds, has struggled to find consistency over the past few years, racking up a 4-6 record since late 2009.
Not that it’s been all wine and roses for his opponent.
Miller (25-7, 1 NC) was also on the cusp of a division title shot just a few years back; however, the New Jersey native is mired in a dreadful 1-3 slump. His most recent misstep came at the hands of Mike Chiesa as part of the UFC Fight Night 80 event back in December.
Lots riding on the line for both combatants.
UFC 197 will feature a championship doubleheader that pits UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos against featherweight import and current 145-pound kingpin Conor McGregor, not long after women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm makes her first title defense against perennial contender Miesha Tate.
Bonkers!
