Yair Rodriguez just scored one of the knockouts of the year with a jumping kick KO over Andre Fili at UFC 197.
Yair Rodriguez is a flashy fighter. The TUF Latin America 1 winner has looked better and better every time he has stepped into the cage, and his wealth of spinning techniques and amazing kicks continues to grow. Tonight, he used one of those kicks to knock out Andre Fili in the first main card bout of UFC 197.
It wasn’t just a kick. It was a jumping (or flying) roundhouse kick. And it knocked Fili out cold.
Rodriguez looked great in the first round, using the kicks and a surprising wrestling game to keep Fili at bay. His wild game led to him getting caught a couple of times, but it was definitely his round.
The second round was more of the same, with Rodriguez mixing in hard leg kicks as well. Then he backed up Fili to the fence, and blasted him with the kick to pick up his fourth straight UFC win at 2:15 of round 2.
