UFC 200: Jon Jones says it’s all over for Daniel Cormier once he defeats him a second time

At 37 years of age, Daniel Cormier has accomplished great things in the world of combat sports.

Before capturing the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title, “DC” won the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix in 2012. Prior to that, Cormier had an outstanding wrestling career both in and out of college, making the 2004 Olympic team for USA.

That said, Jon Jones declared during a recent media scrum that once he defeats “DC” for a second time at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada; it’s all over for the current 205-pound champion.

His words via MMA Fighting:

“I think DC has a lot of pressure on him. After I win this second fight, he’s over. He’s really over. He’s done a great job of doing commentary work, but it will be a major blow to his legacy to lose again. I just think the pressure’s on for him. It really is a make-or-break situation for him. I enjoy being in the position that I am, I feel there’s a lot less pressure on me. I’m 28 years old and I have a long time to fight, where he’s in a position where if he loses this one, he never really was the champion, and I think he knows that.”

On the flip side, a victory over Jones will not only be a huge feather in Cormier’s cap, but solidify once and for all that he is the sole owner of the light heavyweight strap.

Plus, it would likely secure a trilogy fight against “Bones,” which would give him yet one more opportunity to add to his already-impressive career.

Anyone expect Jones to put a huge dent in “DC’s” career come fight night? Or will Cormier even up the score?
