UFC 209: Dana White thinks Stephen Thompson beat Tyron Woodley last night – ‘I had him winning’

It wasn’t a dominant or exciting performance, by Tyron Woodley did enough in the eyes of the judges to hold on to his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title at last night’s (Sat., March 4, 2017) UFC 209 pay-per-view (PPV) event, defeating Stephen Thompson via majority decision.

But, not everyone felt “The Chosen One” did enough to earn the win, Dana White included, who told UFC’s Mean Olivi during the post-fight show that he felt “Wonderboy” should be the new champ according to his score.

“I had it 3-2 for ‘Wonderboy.’ I didn’t think it was going to be a draw,” said Dana. “From the fight that I watched, I had it 3-2 ‘Wonderboy’ and one of the judges scored the last round 10-8, which is insane.”

Still, while White scored it for Stephen, he says at the end of the day, the judges’ have the final say and was adamant in saying the win for Woodley “didn’t help his case.”

“Tyron is the champ, man. He won tonight and, you know. Listen, me, the fans and everybody watching. we are not judges,” said White.

“The judges called him the winner tonight so he’s the winner and let’s see where we go from here,” he added. “Listen, this fight didn’t help his case in any way shape or form. But, I don’t know, we’ll see what happens from here,” he concluded.

I guess it’s safe to say he won’t be calling Tyron a “stud champion” anytime soon.
