UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway prelims live results, discussion, play by play
Live, blow-by-blow updates for today’s UFC 212 preliminary card, which features a bantamweight bout between a perennial contender and a hot free agent signing.

Tonight’s main event will see full UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo attempt to take out interim champion Max Holloway. The co-main comes in the women’s strawweight division, with Claudia Gadelha taking on Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
This post will cover the preliminary card. The featured bout of the prelims comes in the bantamweight division, with Raphael Assuncao taking on longtime WSOF 135-pound champ Marlon Moraes in his UFC debut.
The prelims kick off at approximately 6;30pm ET/3:30pm PT with three bouts on UFC Fight Pass. They then move over to FS1 at 8pm ET/5pm PT for the other four prelims bouts. The five-fight PPV kicks off at the normal starting time of 10pm ET/7pm PT, and are covered in a separate post. The full lineup and schedule follows. Round 1 – Carlos with a leg kick, but it’s caught and Spicely gets a takedown. Shoeface immediately looking for an armbar. Now a heel hook. Spicely counters, and they’re in the 50/50. They’re throwing punches and intertwining their legs. The crowd doesn’t like it but this is really interesting. They’re still tangled up with two minutes to go. Finally they return to their feet with a minute to go. Carlos immediately looked for a takedown. And he gets it. Right onto his back. Shoeface looking for a choke but couldn’t get it under the chin. 10-9 Carlos Junior.
Round 2 – They go to the ground quickly, with Shoeface on top. They’re tangling legs again. Not true 50/50 yet….okay, now it is. Carlos with a beautiful spin around to his back. He couldn’t get to mount but he has one leg secured. Now Spicely retains guard. This is very technical. Again, Spicely turns his back to get up and Carlos gets it. He’s stuck in a body triangle now. This is bad. Two minutes to go in the round. Spicely opens up with some punches over her shoulder to Shoeface’s…well, face. Carlos secures the choke though, and Spicely is forced to tap.

Round 1 – Eduardo rips the inside of the leg with a kick. Nice short right from Eduwardo. Lopez responded with a right. Another inside leg kick. They trade rights. Eduardo with a body kick and a hard right. Eduardo has landed heavy early. Lopez ate a kick and landed a double leg takedown. Eduardo looking for a heel hook. Lopez landed some punches but Eduardo just ate them. Lopez stayed on top. Big shots from Lopez. Elbows. Hard ones. Tons of punches. Eduardo is hurt. He’s just covering up. Referee Mario Yamasaki let that go a lot longer than it needed to, but he eventually stops it.

Round 1 – Alcantara with a front kick and a right. Alcantara is pressuring hard early. Two hard counter lefts. Body kick from Alcantara. Body kick from Kelleher. He caught a kick and just missed with a spinning back fist. They trade body kicks. Kelliher landed a right but got taken down. He secured a guillotine and Alcantara tapped just like that! Wow, that was crazy.

Round 1 – Slow start. Glancing overhand right for Pereira. Pereira caught a kick and pushed Moyle against the fence. She lands a right over the top. Jabs from Moyle after they spearate. Inside leg kick. Pereira caught a kick and landed a straight right. They trade rights. Pereira lands some shots. She pressures and lands a hard right at the horn. 10-9 Pereira.
Round 2 – Jab from Pereira. Moyle had a takedown attempt stuffed. Moyle with front kicks now. Pereira with a nice combo. Pereira backs her into the cage. Moyle reverses and lands a couple of knees to the body. Inside leg kick from Moyle. Fereira flurrying. They trade in the pocket and Pereira gets the best of it, easily. Insie leg kick from Moyle. Moyle with a counter left. She tried another front kick and Pereira caught it, dumping h er onto her back. She’s not jumping into her guard though, choosing to kick her legs on the feet again. 10-9 Pereira.
Round 3 – Inside leg kick from Pereira. Nice winging right from the Brazilian. Another connects. Pereira with a long combo. Moyle doesn’t have much for her. They brawl in the clinch. Moyle can’t even get down to her legs to attempt a takedown. Pereira pumps the jab. The crowd is getting restless. Pereira landed a hard left hook. Moyle is trying to be more aggressive but it’s way too late. And she’s getting cewed up by Pereira anyway. Slow finish. 10-9 and 30-27 Pereira.

Nice right hook over the shoulder too. Big combo and Wallhead looked for a takedown. Wallhead with a straight right. Spinning back fist lands on the shoulder of Chagas. Chags fires back with a multi-punch combo. Chagas fights off another takedown attempt. Front kick scores from Chagas. Wallhead with a right hook. Lead left hook from Chagas and it connects again. Left high kick scores. Body shot from Wallhead. Outside leg kick from Chagas. 10-9 Chagas, easy.
Round 2 – Counter right from Chagas. Wallhead with a hard right hook. Chagas with a kick in the junk. Let’s got to the Cornuts Cam! Oh wait, there’s no time. Maybe that’s more of a Rogan thing. Jab from Chagas, and he scored with a left head kick again. Wallhead wit ha right hook and two straight rights. Chagas fires back. They tie up against the cage. Nice combo and a high kick from Chagas. Chagas with a straight left, Wallhead with a straight right. Now Chagas eyepoked him. Wallhead can’t see and he’s mad. Doctor comes in quickly and lets him continue. Chagas with four leg kicks. Wallhead misses with two spinning attacks. The lead left hook scores again for Chagas. Wallhead is throwing a lot but landing little. Wallhead to the body. Chagas drops Wallhead with a huge left hook! He immediately jumps on him and secures the choke. It’s tapping time. He actually landed a backhanded right before the left hook. That was awesome.

Marco Beltran vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
Round 1 – They trade kicks. Beltran with a hard inside leg kick. Slow pace otherwise though. Figueiredo with a hard body kick and gets a takedown. He’s controlling position for a while. He’s lookin for a guillotine from top position. He rolls over to his back, but it’s not super tight. He’s still stuck, for a good minute. He finally pops his head out and drops some elbows. They return to the feet with 10 seconds to go. 10-9 Figueiredo.
Round 2 – Outside leg kick from Beltran. A kick from Figueiredo. He drops him with a shot! Figueiredo takes mount with tons of time left. Beltran escaped to half guard though. Figueiredo stood out of guard, avoided some upkicks, and steps over with some punches. He lands a shot and Beltran gives up his back. He sinks a choke but Beltran admirably fought it off. Back to mount. He dropped out for a heel hook. He gave it up and they returned to the feet. Figueiredo wit ha body shot. Hard standing elbow and Beltran is stunned. Uppercut! He falls down and Figueiredo is all over him, but the horn went! Wow. 10-8 Figueiredo.
The ref waived off the fight in between rounds. Figueiredo wins.
