The UFC’s year-end show’s estimated buy-rate trails only Cormier vs. Jones and Bisping vs. GSP according to Dave Meltzer.
UFC 219: Cyborg vs. Holm was the last pay-per-view of 2017 for the UFC, having been held on December 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. According to Dave Meltzer of MMAFighting, the event looks as though it is was also one of the most watched UFC PPVs of the entire year.
Meltzer claims that the buy-rate for UFC 219 is probably between 340,000 and 380,000. If correct, the buy-rate for the show is only surpassed by UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 (860,000) and UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre (875,000) out of all other UFC PPVs in 2017 (13 total).
UFC 219 saw Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino successfully defend her UFC featherweight title against former bantamweight queen Holly Holm. The pay-per-view also featured the return of Khabib Nurmagomedov, who battered Edson Barboza in the co-main event. The card was rounded out by Daniel Hooker vs. Marc Diakiese, Carla Esparza vs. Cynthia Calvillo, and Neil Magny vs. Carlos Condit.
UFC 219 was Cyborg’s first UFC PPV headliner. In 2016 she did headline a ‘fight night’ event. And prior to joining the UFC, Cyborg headlined multiple Invicta FC cards. In 2009 she headlined Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg, which drew 576,000 viewers on Showtime (per MMAPayout).
When Cyborg headlined UFC Fight Night 95 in 2016, opposite Lina Lansberg in Brasilia Brazil, she was watched by 1,326,000 viewers (per Dave Meltzer). That event was the ninth most watched Fight Night event since those shows began appearing on FS1 in 2013.
