Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be off for another weekend, but it is set to return with a vengeance with UFC 224 on May 12, 2018.
The pay-per-view (PPV) event is set to go down from inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and will be headlined by a women’s Bantamweight title fight that will see division queen Amanda Nunes defend her strap against Raquel Pennington in what will mark “Leoa’s” second-ever title defense.
Pennington has been quietly climbing the ranks, and will get her first-ever shot at a UFC world title against one of the most lethal strikers in all of the division, which just so happens someone she knows on a personal level.
In the co-main event, Ronaldo Souza will take on Kelvin Gastelum in a highly-intriguing Middleweight scrap that could have major title implications. Also, Vitor Belfort will step into the Octagon for the final time to face off against fellow longtime veteran, Lyoto Machida. Plus, Mackenzie Dern will look to go two-for-two inside the Octagon as she battles Amanda Cooper in main card action.
