I know this will come as a shock to mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, but the folks at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) are denying that UFC 225 was a box office failure, despite reports from industry insiders that peg “Whittaker vs. Romero” at less than 150,000 pay-per-view (PPV) buys.

In fact, attorney Hunter Campbell called that number a “material misrepresentation” and missed the mark “in excess of six figures,” but failed to give an actual figure and just wants us to take his word for it, according to L.A. Times.
Guys, he’s lawyer, we can trust him.
That means UFC 225 did 250,000 — or 50,000 — depending on which way the original report was misrepresented. Let’s assume it’s the former … is anyone at the new Las Vegas compound breaking out the party hats?
Probably not, especially when you consider the UFC 225 “Prelims” card on FOX Sports 1 came up short, as well.
