The next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view (PPV) offering will feature not one, but two title fights as UFC 227 is set to go down from inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 4, 2018.
The event will be headlined by a Bantamweight championship rematch as current division kingpin, T.J. Dillashaw, will be defending the 135-pound strap against the very man he took it from last November at UFC 217, Cody Garbrandt.
The former teammates-turned bitter rivals haven’t let up in their ongoing rivalry, which ultimately prompted the promotion to book a rematch between them, delaying T.J.’s hopes of facing current Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson in the process.
Speaking of “Mighty Mouse,” he will put his 125-pound title on the line against Henry Cejudo for the second time after knocking him out at UFC 197 two years ago. Johnson has defended his title three times since, while Cejudo has gone 2-1 since the crushing defeat, which was good enough to earn him another crack at the crown.
Before then, get pumped for UFC 227: “Dillashaw vs Garbrandt 2” — which will also feature a Light Heavyweight showdown between Alexander Gustafsson and Volkan Oezdemir — by taking a look at the promotion’s first promo video to promote the PPV card.
