Daniel Cormier will defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis in a big-man title fight booked to headline the promotion’s return to Madison Square Garden this Saturday night (Nov. 3, 2018) in New York City.
Lewis earned the shot following his come-from-behind knockout victory over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 a few weeks ago (see it). Though “Black Beast” didn’t exactly ask for the showdown, he wasn’t about to turn down the opportunity of a lifetime.
For “DC,” defeating Derrick is one of the few remaining hurdles on his way to a big-money fight against Brock Lesnar.
In the revamped co-main event, former UFC Middleweight champion Chris Weidman will face off against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in what is shaping up to be a title eliminator matchup. Also, Israel Adesanya and Derek Brunson will collide in a pivotal 185-pound showdown.
