Jon Jones is moderately favored over Alexander Gustafsson in their scheduled UFC 232 rematch, but not nearly as much as their first fight.
It was just announced yesterday (October 10th) that crown-less light heavyweight king Jon Jones will finally run it back with Alexander Gustafsson, at UFC 232 towards the end of the year. Oh, the UFC 205 pound strap will be on the line to sweeten the deal. Bloody Elbow has the betting odds!
Online betting site BetDSI has the former champ Jon Jones opening up with a favored line of -250. Alexander Gustafsson has dropped with an underdog tag of +230.
Two weeks ago, we had betting odds for Jones’ next opponent, with Gustafsson being favored more so than any other fighter listed, as well as the rest of the field of play. It looks like the oddsmakers knew something.
The first time these warriors did battle was at UFC 165 back in September of 2013, and despite a rather wide betting line, the fight turned out to be one of the closest and most exciting bouts in UFC light heavyweight title history. Back then, Jones opened up as a much heavier betting favorite than this rematch, posting a monstrous line of -800, while Gustafsson clocked in as a much loftier underdog with a +550 moneyline. At the time, I’m sure the Jones bettors were shaking in their boots up until the results were read.
With the Jones vs. Gus rematch opening up with a substantially tighter line than the first time around, what sort of movement are we in store for?
