The UFC 235 referees and judges have been revealed for this weekend’s (Sat., March 2, 2019) blockbuster event from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) unanimously approved longtime veteran Herb Dean to officiate the Jon Jones vs. Anthony Smith light heavyweight title main event. Dean is widely regarded as one of the best refs in MMA due to his extensive experience. Another longtime veteran in Marc Goddard will preside over the Tyron Woodley vs. Kamaru Usman welterweight title co-main event.
According to MMA Fighting, Dean and Goddard will make $1,900 each for their assignments.
Judges were also revealed at the NSAC meeting. Sal D’Amato, Junichiro Kamijo, and Chris Lee will tally scores for Jones vs. Smith. Mike Bell, Derek Cleary, and Dave Hagen will judge the co-main event. Each judge will be paid $1,600 for these assignments.
UFC 235 is the best UFC event of 2019 thus far, at least on paper. Check out the full lineup from top to bottom here.
In addition to the two title bouts up top, it features the debut of Ben Askren against returning former champion Robbie Lawler. Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, rising featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov, and light heavyweight prospect Johnny Walker will also return to the Octagon at the event.
