Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC 237: Namajunas vs. Andrade.
The Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was home to a great night of fights. The card saw six (T)KOs, one submission, and five unanimous decisions. A champion was dethroned, and several legends were beaten soundly, with a couple likely headed to the pasture.
Performance of the Night: Jessica Andrade, Warlley Alves
Warlley Alves dominated Sergio Moraes for the majority of the fight, even after getting eye-poked. The contest was punctuated by Alves’ flying knee, which he launched frequently. As a matter of fact, Warlley landed a multitude of kicks, all the while lighting Moraes up the middle with heavy bombs. By round three, Moraes’ leg was clearly giving him problems, but Alves continued butchering it. In the last 60 seconds, Alves was just brutalizing Moraes with kicks and punches, and with one last flying knee and hellacious uppercut, Sergio went down, and the fight was called.
Warlley Alves gets the win and a $50,000 bonus.
Fight of the Night: Jessica Andrade vs. Rose Namajunas
After being dominated for the entirety of round one and nearly finished, Jessica Andrade got the job done in round two via a huge body slam that knocked Rose Namajunas out. During the first stanza, Andrade was getting owned in the standup and on the ground. With her face looking like the red mask of death, it was looking like the little Brazilian was on her way out, and the round could have easily been scored a 10-8 for Namajunas. Round two saw Andrade faring a little better, but still eating a couple counters before picking Rose up and bouncing her off the canvas.
Jessica Andrade gets the win, the belt and both women get a $50,000 bonus. Andrade also took another $50,000 POTN bonus.
