After all was said and done at the UFC 240 pay-per-view (PPV) event — which went down on Sat., July 27, 2019 inside Rogers Arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada — there was plenty of “Thrill and Agony” to go around.
Sharing in the obvious joy was Max Holloway, who defended his Featherweight strap by dominating Frankie Edgar for five rounds (see it again here). On the flip side of that coin, the agony on Edgar’s face — as well as his son’s — was visibly present after the former Lightweight champ came up short in his bid to become multiple-division champion.
Also sharing in the elation of victory was Cris Cyborg, who defeated Felicia Spencer in the co-main event to get her back into the win column. Though disappointed with the loss, Spencer can find solace in knowing she took it to one of the most feared strikers in MMA.
One of the best moments, however, is seeing the Edgar and Holloway family meet and embrace each other backstage after watching their loved ones go to war inside the Octagon for 25 minutes.
