Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is gearing up to stage UFC 241: “Cormier vs Miocic 2,” which goes down this Saturday night (Aug. 17, 2019) inside Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Headlining the event is a Heavyweight championship rematch that will see Daniel Cormier defend his strap against Stipe Miocic.
It’s a rematch a year in the making, as “DC” knocked out Miocic at UFC 226 in July of 2018. Since then, Cormier has defended his title against Derrick Lewis while Stipe opted to sit out in hopes of getting the chance to run it back against the man who ended his championship run. He got his wish after Brock Lesnar — who was in line to fight Daniel – retired from the fight game.
In the co-main event, Nate Diaz makes his heavily-anticipated return to action after three years away from the fight game to face Anthony Pettis in a pivotal Welterweight matchup. Also, Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero will finally get locked inside the cage, as the two men have a bitter beef linked to both men accusing one another of dabbling in performance enhancing drugs.
