Nate Diaz won a unanimous decision against Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 241.
Nate Diaz picked up a unanimous decision win against Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 241 after three years away from the cage.
What was the high point of the fight?
Pettis started off the fight by looking good on the feet, but it was then Diaz’s time to shine once he got a takedown and started to work from guard. Diaz took over the striking in the second round as he finished landing shots on Pettis who slumped to the floor exhausted when the bell sounded.
Diaz landed some excellent knees in the third round against the fence that dropped Pettis, it looked like the finish was coming but Pettis recovered on the ground. The two continued to exchange positions on the ground but it was Diaz who finished the fight on top and had clearly done enough for the decision win.
Where do these two go from here?
Despite the loss, Pettis had his moments against Diaz, however maybe a return back to 155-pounds after two fights at welterweight should be next for Pettis. Maybe a rematch against Donald Cerrone would be a fun fight to make next for the former lightweight champ Pettis.
The win is massive for Diaz, as the Stockton native looked better than ever returning to the octagon after almost three years away. Diaz said before this fight he wasn’t interested in fights against the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, and in his post-fight interview he said he wants a fight against Jorge Masvidal.
Watch it now, later or never?
Diaz looked sensational in the fight at times, so watch the fight now to see how he got the win.
