Dustin Poirier will look to achieve a lifelong dream of becoming the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion when he faces Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 242 this Saturday night (Sept. 7, 2019) in Abu Dhabi.

Before then, however, let’s take a look at some of the road “The Diamond” had to travel to get there, as the promotion has unleashed Dustin’s top finishes in his Octagon and World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) career.

Known for his push the pace style, Poirier has collected several stoppage victories during his time with both promotions. So trying to pick out the cream of the crop was no easy task. Without further ado, here is the final cut.

Technical knockout win over Zach Micklewright at WEC 52 in 2010.

Knockout win over Diego Brandao at UFC 168 in 2013.

Knockout win over Bobby Green at UFC 199 in 2016.

Submission win over Pablo Garza at UFC on FOX 1 in 2011.

Knockout win over Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight night 63 in 2015.

Knockout win over Akira Corassani at TUF Nations Finale in 2014.

Technical knockout win over Yancy Medeiros at UFC Fight night 68 in 2015.

Submission win over Max Holloway at UFC 143 in 2012.

Knockout win over Justin Geathje at UFC on FOX 29 in 2018.

Technical knockout win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC on FOX 30 in 2018.

If he can score a win over “The Eagle,” not only will he become the undisputed 155-pound champion, but he’ll be the first man to hand Khabib a loss in mixed martial arts (MMA). If he can score a stoppage, however, it will raise his stock even further.

Furthermore, it could set him up for yet another big title fight against none other than Conor McGregor, the man who defeated him at UFC 178 five years ago.
