Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is all set to stage UFC 243 this Saturday night (Oct. 5, 2019) inside Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Headlining the event is a Middleweight title unification bout, as division champion, Robert Whittaker, will face interim champ, Israel Adesanya, on pay-per-view via ESPN+.
Israel won the interim belt earlier this year after a five-round thriller against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 (see it here) to bring his undefeated record to 17-0, 6-0 UFC. Whittaker, meanwhile, hasn’t competed in over a year after defeating Yoel Romero a second time at UFC 225 in June of 2018.
In the co-main event, Al Iaquinta and Dan Hooker will battle it out in a pivotal Lightweight bout. Before all of the combatants get it on inside the Octagon, they have to go through all the rigors of fight week, which can be pretty demanding, with non-stop media obligations, all while trying to manage their weight.
Thankfully, the “Embedded” cameras are always present to give everyone an inside look as to what exactly goes down the week of the fight. From the official YouTube description.
On Episode 1 of UFC 243 Embedded, middleweight champion Robert Whittaker enjoys the calm before the storm, playing video games and wrangling his kids for a family photo shoot. Lightweight Al Iaquinta acclimates to Australia in the gym. Interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and lightweight Dan Hooker are greeted in Melbourne with a traditional haka.
