Check out the final betting odds for Saturday’s UFC 243 event in Australia, where Israel Adesanya is now favored over Robert Whittaker in their middleweight title fight.
It’s fight day for UFC 243 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and Bloody Elbow is here to provide the closing betting lines!
The main event for this down under card will determine the undisputed champion at 185 pounds when the current king, Robert Whittaker, squares off with the interim prince, Israel Adesanya. As of Bloody Elbow’s midweek betting odds post, we learned that Whittaker’s moneyline dropped from -150 down to -105, and Adesanya’s went from an underdog slot of +120 into favored territory at -115. Since then, the lines have shifted slightly, and Whittaker is now available as an underdog option at +100, although still available at slight minus lines in some locations. Adesanya has only been spotted at minus line, even as high as -126 on some gambling sites.
The over/under for this clash of middleweight title holders has been set at 3.5 rounds. The bet-setters first listed the ‘over’ at -120, with the ‘under’ slightly less favored at -110. Now, the ‘over’ has budged a bit to -122 with the ‘under’ percolating as a +107 underdog. Will this main event matchup endure all 25 scheduled minutes? Well, the sports bettors seem to think so. The prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ has been hovering around a value of -145, with ‘Fight goes to decision’ nestled at +115.
With how lethal both 185-pounders tend to be, it’s no surprise to see the fighters’ ending early exotics paralleling one another. ‘Adesanya wins inside distance’ can be scooped up for +220, with ‘Not Adesanya inside distance’ at a favored tick of -280. Going back the other way, ‘Whittaker wins inside distance’ has been marked at +225, with a -285 comeback on ‘Not Whittaker inside distance.’
What about these middleweight elites reaching the scorecards? Well, according to the betting odds, Adesanya is the one more likely to get the judges’ nod. Gamblers can take the price on ‘Adesanya wins by decision’ for +280, with ‘Not Adesanya by decision’ moderately favored at -370. On the flip side, ‘Whittaker wins by decision’ holds a thicker underdog line of +350, with ‘Not Whittaker by decision’ trending a stout minus line of 485.
The UFC 243 co-main event also experienced a line flip when the promotion’s #6 ranked lightweight Al Iaquinta went from a -130 betting favorite, to a +160 underdog — and the #15 ranked Dan Hooker soared from a pick’em price of -110 up to a strong favored value of -185. That line has tightened up a bit, with Hooker now posted at -150, and “Raging” Al valued at +140.
