Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) next entry to the pay-per-view (PPV) market will be a big one, as UFC 244 is locked and loaded for Nov. 2, 2019, which will be headlined by a five-round bout between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.
Set to go down inside famed Madison Square Garden in New York, NY., Masvidal and Diaz will be battling for the right to be called the “baddest motherfucker,” and they will have a $50,000 “BMF” belt to prove it.
Sure, many in the fight game have ridiculed the title, but Diaz and Masvidal are going all in, and despite the bout not being for a legit UFC belt, it definitely has the feel of one. Plus, it’s going to be a five-round bout, so perhaps critics should just sit back and enjoy what is sure-to-be an entertaining scrap.
Diaz made his triumphant return after an extended layoff to defeat Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 a few months back (highlights), earning him his first victory since a win over Conor McGregor in 2016. Masvidal, meanwhile, is looking for his third straight win after scoring back-to-back knockout victories over Darren Till and Ben Askren (see it).
A convincing win over Diaz could very well set him up to face the winner of Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman, who are set to throw hands at UFC 245 on Dec. 14.
