What Went Wrong at UFC Raleigh?
Once again, not a thing! All our picks either scored stoppages or won all three rounds, making for a clean victory.
UFC 247 Odds For The Undercard:
Trevin Giles (-150) vs. Antonio Arroyo (+130)
Andrea Lee (-350) vs. Lauren Murphy (+265)
Alex Morono (-275) vs. Kalinn Williams (+215)
Miles Johns (-130) vs. Mario Bautista (EVEN)
Domingo Pilarte (-135) vs. Journey Newson (+105)
Andre Ewell (-125) vs. Jonathan Martinez (-105)
Austin Lingo (-225) vs. Youssef Zalal (+175)
Thoughts: Miles Johns opened as a considerable favorite against Mario Bautista, only for incoming bets to turn this into a statistical pick-‘em. I’m not sure what people see in Bautista, but I’m glad they’re so confident, as it makes “Chapo” more profitable. Bautista was twice taken down by Jin Soo Son, a basic brawler and far inferior takedown technician than Johns. Plus, though he’s dangerous on the feet, he’s not technically savvy enough to make full use of his reach advantage; Johns will be able to hold his own wherever the fight goes, so be in a position to profit.
UFC 247 Odds For The Main Card:
Jon Jones (-500) vs. Dominick Reyes (+350)
Valentina Shevchenko (-1400) vs. Katlyn Chookagian (+750)
Juan Adams (-230) vs. Justin Tafa (+180)
Mirsad Bektic (-145) vs. Dan Ige (+115)
Derrick Lewis (-260) vs. Ilir Latifi (+200)
Thoughts: Embarrassing as his performance against Greg Hardy was, Juan Adams is a quality investment here. He’s far taller and lengthier than Justin Tafa, not to mention more experienced, and he has the wrestling to ruthlessly exploit Tafa’s underdeveloped ground game. Everything is going Adams’ way in this matchup; barring a total collapse on his part or some inhumanly rapid improvement from Tafa, he should dominate.
UFC 247 Best Bets:
- Parlay — Miles Johns and Juan Adams: Bet $50 to make $86.50
It ain’t the Super Bowl, but it’s still an event worth watching. See you Saturday, Maniacs.
