Check out the first episode of Embedded for UFC 248.
UFC 248 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the first episode for this weekend’s big show in Sin City, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start things off at the UFC Performance Institute. Weili Zhang talks about how her career has progressed, and how the coronavirus forced her to leave China pretty much immediately at the start of February. She went to Thailand, then Abu Dhabi, then the US, so she’s exhausted. She complained to her mother about it, but her mom put it in perspective for her – the people at the front lines of defending against the virus have no time to sleep, they are putting everything into saving lives. So her exhaustion is pretty insignificant compared to that.
Moms always have a way of doing things like that, don’t they?
Off to Florida we go, at American Top Team. Joanna Jedrzejczyk is doing her last session before traveling for the fight. As usual, she’s pretty confident. She rides her bike out of the parking lot, and says we’ll see her in Vegas.
Back to Zhang, who is speaking English now (and quite well). She has had trouble sleeping, but was better that night. She has a little weight to cut at the PI. She then talks about Joanna, believing that she lacks finishing power. She thinks she can finish the fight before the final horn.
Back to Joanna, who attends a Miami Heat game and is given a jersey. She says that NBA games bring her luck.
Off to Vegas, where Israel Adesanya is arriving. He doesn’t want to wait for Paulo Costa (or as he calls him, Juice Monkey), so he picked Romero. He makes a joke about Darren Till being scared of Romero. He then gets to his hotel, and clowns around in the huge shower.
Back to the PI with Sean O’Malley. He hasn’t fought in two years, which is crazy. He thinks he’s improved greatly in that time, and his confidence is high.
And that’s it! UFC 248 goes down this Saturday night in Vegas.
