Now that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has officially locked down and revealed the location for “Fight Island,” as well as the full slate of fights that will run through the entire month of July, the promotion is starting to flex its unmatched promotional muscle.
UFC unveiled it’s first full length promo highlighting its upcoming UFC 251 pay-per-view (PPV) event on July 11, 2020 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, which will feature a trio of title fights headlined by Kamaru Usman defending his Welterweight strap against Gilbert Burns.
In the co-main event, Alexander Volkanovski will defend his Featherweight title against Max Holloway, the man he took the belt from last December. Rounding out the championship bouts is Petr Yan and Jose Aldo colliding for the vacant Bantamweight strap. Not getting any love on the video is a women’s Strawweight bout between former division champions Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade, as well as a women’s Flyweight bout between Paige VanZant and Amanda Ribas.
Once the event wraps, the promotion will be right back at it four days later with a Fight Night event headlined by Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige and co-features Frankie Edgar’s 135-pound debut against Pedro Munhoz. Three days after that, Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez will run it back in a Flyweight title fight, before Darren Till and Robert Whittaker headline the final event on Sat. July 25.
