Sean O’Malley leads the list of long medical suspensions after UFC 252.

This weekend’s UFC 252 saw Stipe Miocic defend his UFC heavyweight title crown versus former champ Dabiel Cormier. The win also buttressed Miocic’s claims as the greatest UFC heavyweight today and possibly ever.

The heavyweight tilt with Cormier earned headlines due to some controversy at the end of the third round. That’s when an accidental eye poke landed on Cormier, resulting in a torn cornea.

The damage to Cormier’s eye is reflected in the medical suspensions handed out by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The suspensions show that the commission is also concerned about damage Miocic may have taken as a result of accidental eye pokes, too.

It comes as no surprise that the commission is handing Sean O’Malley a lengthy suspension. He lost to Marlon Vera by TKO after appearing to suffer a lower leg injury (possibly a recurrence of the injury that he suffered in 2018 and sidelined him for over a year).
