Watch the fourth episode of UFC 254 Embedded, bringing you behind the scenes on Fight Island, Abu Dhabi en route to the biggest UFC PPV of the year.
The countdown to UFC 254 continues, and we’re mere days away from the big showdown in Abu Dhabi between lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. Also on the card: a middleweight contender fight between former champ Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier.
To hype up the masses, the UFC brings us behind the scenes once again to show us what fight week looks like inside Fight Island. UFC Embedded episode 4 is here to do just that.
The video opens with the conditioning and cutting workouts of Whittaker, Cannonier, Gaethje, and Nurmagomedov. Gaethje is looking happy and confident pulling off handstand pushups. Khabib is all business as he cuts weight on a treadmill.
Then we move on to the media side of thing. Khabib sits in his room being interviewed on the phone by teammate and UFC 254 commentator Daniel Cormier. On the mirror of his room: a list of his former opponents written in sharpie.
“When Allah is with you, nobody can beat you,” it reads. “You have to believe. #KeepGoing #Undefeated #29-0-0.”
Then it’s on to Jared Cannonier looking jacked for his official UFC photoshoot. “My goal is always the same: to go in there and dominate and impose my will on my opponent. Put them away as fast as possible. Flawless victory, I’m staking my claim. I’m next.”
Back to Gaethje talking to Megan Olivi. “Being on bottom is not something I’m good at. But getting out from bottom is something I’ve worked on my whole life. The most demeaning thing that can happen to you is being held down on the mat. So it’s been something that’s been a focus of mine since I was a child. So I’m excited for him to be desperate to get it to the mat.”
And then it’s a backstage look at how the UFC 254 press conference on Wednesday went with Khabib, Justin, and Dana White. You can, of course, watch that whole event here.
