Check out the first episode of Embedded for UFC 254.
UFC 254 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the first episode for this weekend’s big show on Fight Island, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at the Fighter Hotel in Vegas, where Walt Harris is doing some running and shadowboxing. He says that he had a long but great camp. Sam Alvey is out there with him.
Justin Gaethje and Lauren Murphy chat a bit. Murphy is taking the strange circumstances in stride. Michael Chandler talks about his very unique UFC beginnings, where he might not even end up having a fight on the card. Either that, or he’s in the biggest fight of his life.
Jared Cannonier hasn’t competed in a while, but he’s ready to go. He thinks he’s well-rounded enough to pressure Robert Whittaker anywhere. Ben Henderson makes a cameo as they head to the airport to fly to Abu Dhabi.
Bruce Buffer and Gaethje talk while waiting for their flight. Gaethje says they’ve never made eye contact in the cage. Buffer says it’s probably because he’s so intense in there. Buffer says when it does happen (with other fighters), he can see fear sometimes. Murphy is happy she’s still on the card after Cynthia Calvillo tested positive for COVID. Harris is excited about his first trip to the Middle East.
Gaethje’s parents are flying business class on an international flight for the first time. The Highlight gives them props for their support. Everyone does their own thing on the flight. Gaethje compares Khabib vs. him to a Rocky movie.
We’re at the W Hotel now, where the staff says that Khabib has a lot of support there. But it doesn’t mean Justin won’t have any. Khabib arrives in a van to awaiting cameras and a hype man. Khabib loves UAE, but being popular isn’t easy. His coach says that if Khabib doesn’t want this attention, he just has lose. Fair enough. The hype man closes the video.
And that’s it! UFC 254 goes down on Saturday on Fight Island.
