The big question about UFC 255 right now is simple – will Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier be on this card?
Until this morning, UFC 255 was shaping up to feature two flyweight title fights on top. Deiveson Figueiredo is set to defend his title for the first time against replacement challenger Alex Perez (who is filling in for the injured Cody Garbrandt); and dominant champion Valentina Shevchenko will face off with Jennifer Maia.
Neither of those fights might end up being the main event though, since Conor McGregor announced that he has accepted a fight with Dustin Poirier, and he’s ready to go as early as November 21st. That just happens to be the date of this card.
That doesn’t mean it’s happening for sure. Conor also said he would fight on any December card, and UFC 256 needs a main event now that Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns has been delayed until 2021. But if the UFC wants to pull the trigger ASAP, this is the event to do it on.
In the meantime, here’s a look at the current card, which will got down in UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
