Deiveson Figueiredo (19-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) will aim to make the first defense of his flyweight title in the main event of UFC 255 this weekend against top contender Alex Perez (24-5 MMA, 6-1 UFC). UFC 255: Figueiredo vs. Perez airs live from the promotion’s APEX center in Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday, November 21st. The main card will start with a fight time of 10:00 p.m. ET / 7.00 p.m. PT, with the ESPN prelims beginning at 8:00 p.m. and early prelims kicking off at 6:30 p.m.

How did these two get here?
Deiveson Figueiredo’s last fight against Joseph Benavidez was one of the most brutal beatdowns in a UFC title fight, period. The Brazilian knocked down Benavidez three times in one round, then choked him unconscious. It was a similar statement to the one he made five months earlier when he stopped Benavidez in February, but missing weight for that fight made me ineligible to win the flyweight strap. Figueiredo’s only loss in the UFC has come to Jussier Formiga, who was recently cut by the promotion.
Alex Perez may be relatively unknown by a lot of fans, but looking at his wins during his current UFC stint it’s hard to not be impressed. The 28-year-old was awarded a UFC contract after impressing on Dana White’s contender series in 2017. Since then Perez has picked up six wins, only losing out to Joseph Benavidez by stoppage in 2018. Perez’s last fight was a TKO win against Formiga in June.
