It was an action-packed UFC flyweight title fight in the main event of UFC 256, as Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno fought to a majority draw.

Deiveson Figueiredo retained his UFC flyweight title after fighting to a majority draw with Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC 256.

What was the high point of the fight?

There was an electric pace from both men at the start of the fight. Figueiredo was showing no respect for the power of Moreno and was walking forward throwing heavy shots. “The Assassin Baby” was pulling his weight and firing back with some good shots of his own.

Neither Figueiredo or Moreno were slowing down as the high output continued in the fight for the next two rounds. Figueiredo was deducted a point in the third round for a bad low blow that had Moreno hurt. Moreno troubled Figueiredo in the fourth with a flurry but the Brazilian came straight back swinging. In the final round it was clear Moreno’s left arm was extremely hurt as he threw very little strikes the whole round.

Where do both men go from here?

It was an absolutely terrific performance by both Figueiredo and Moreno. In the octagon before the scorecards were read, Dana White told Moreno that it was the greatest UFC flyweight fight he’s ever seen, and he might be right.

Only one thing makes sense next for both men, and that is to run it back. Moreno might be sidelined for a while with his injuries, but it will be worth the wait.

Watch it now, later or never?

It was one of the best title fights in years, you have to watch it now.
