UFC 257 is the hottest ticket in town.
It’s probably the only ticket as well, but since former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor — the biggest star in MMA — has never stepped foot on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, UAE fans would probably fill those seats regardless.
According to MMA Junkie, which did the necessary clicking to verify this sort of thing, socially-distanced (and extremely limited) tickets ranging from $795 Arab Emirates Dirham ($216 USD) through $4,995 AED ($1,360 USD) were completely sold out for Etihad Arena, host of the Jan. 23 PPV card.
Even before the pandemic it was hard to score tickets for a McGregor fight. That’s because “Notorious” competes so infrequently and flirts with retirement after every loss. It will be interesting to see what the promotion can offer him with a win.
Perhaps a showdown against this eager beaver?
A loss to longtime nemesis Dustin Poirier, however, would likely be catastrophic for McGregor’s future. It would eliminate him from the lightweight title race and leave the Irish power puncher with a losing record in the 155-pound weight class.
