Can Stipe Miocic add another UFC heavyweight record to his resume vs. Francis Ngannou?
On Saturday, Francis Ngannou gets his second shot at UFC gold when he faces UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. The rematch headlines the UFC 260 pay-per-view card, taking place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The first meeting between these two did not go Ngannou’s way. Miocic swept the judges scorecards on his way to a unanimous decision. It was a record setting victory for the native Ohioan. With the win, Miocic became the first UFC heavyweight champion with three title defenses. He also put himself in the top-10 in three UFC heavyweight single fight records over the course of the 25-minute scrap.
Daniel Cormier took the title from Miocic after the former champ’s win over Ngannou. However, Miocic regained the heavyweight crown in 2019 in a rematch with Cormier. He then defended the title against Cormier in a 2020 trilogy bout.
Ngannou followed his loss to Miocic with another setback, when Derrick Lewis defeated him in a lackluster matchup. Ngannou is currently on a four-fight winning streak. The title challenger won each of those contests by first-round knockout.
UFC 260 takes place on Saturday. The pay-per-view card streams on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+ and early prelims on ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass.
