Vicente Luque just submitted Tyron Woodley after a wild fire fight in the UFC 260 co-main event.

The UFC 260 co-main event was the setting where the company’s #10 ranked welterweight, Vicente Luque, pulled out a first-round submission after a wild shootout with former champion, Tyron Woodley. He had to overcome some hard punches from an uncharacteristically aggressive Woodley, but was able to deliver some slick punches to put Tyron on the proverbial ropes. A botched takedown is what led Luque locking up the D’arce choke that ended the fight. This makes three-straight finishes for Luque, who has also won nine of his last ten. He used his post-fight interview to call out the reclusive Nate Diaz.

Woodley opened up the fight with a hard right hand followed by an aggressive takedown attempt. Luque stayed vertical and pressed Woodley up against the fence. They broke apart and Woodley let his hands go, blasting Luque in the face. Luque again stuffed the takedown advice of Woodley, and pressed the former champ against the fence. As soon as they broke apart, Woodley rocked Luque with a big right hand, but then Luque immediately wobbled Woodley with a counter right. Luque started to piece up Woodley, who was swinging back wildly. Woodley shot in for the takedown, but Luque locked up a D’arce. Tyron tried to improve his position, but Luque was able to lock it in and earn the tap. What a fight!
