Check out the sixth and final episode of Embedded for UFC 261.
UFC 261 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the sixth and final episode for this weekend’s big show in Jacksonville, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
At an MMA gym in Jacksonville, Jorge Masvidal is watching a kid skateboard outside and is ready to cut some weight. Mike Brown works with him. He’s way more on track to make weight than the last fight.
In another Jacksonville gym, Kamaru Usman and his team play some basketball. Francis Ngannou is there, and will corner him. Trevor Wittman is happy with the weight cut. Usman makes a long three-pointer and goes wild.
Now we’re in Valentina Shevchenko’s room at the fighter hotel, as she prepares to cut weight.
Weigh-in time. Jon Anik talks about it being a long year with no fans, but they’re back. Masvidal is first to the scale. 170. Usman is 169.5. They don’t show any of the ladies.
Straight to the ceremonial weigh-ins. Big crowd. Jessica Andrade is out first, then Shevchenko. They were both 124.5, for the record. Intense staredown. Next up, Thug Rose and Weili. They’re both 114.5. They’re at archery distance for the facedown. Gamebred is out. Usman too. Masvidal says “Don’t let him get close to me”. Usman says nothing during the face-off. Masvidal tells him he’s going to knock the smile off his face.
And that’s it! UFC 261 goes down in a few short hours in Jacksonville.
