This Saturday night, May 15, 2021, the UFC showcases a fight for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s vacated UFC Lightweight Championship Title. It’s going to be an all out battle for the belt between fight veterans Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler in the main event. The UFC 262 PPV (pay-per-view) event is being broadcast from the Toyota Center, Houston, Texas with a full capacity live crowd.

Returning to the octagon for that main event, we have multiple UFC record-holder, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. He is entering the bout with a remarkable 30-8 record, with the most submission wins in the UFC history at 14, and tied for the most finishes at 16. ‘Do Bronx’ has also received 17 post fight bonuses (including 11 performance of the night bonuses, the most in UFC history), and he is currently ranked #3 in the lightweight division. Oliveira will be banging it out in this title fight against power striker and three-time Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion, as well as winner of the Bellator Season Four Lightweight Tournament, Michael Chandler. Who is also now the #4 ranked Lightweight since joining the UFC in his debut on January 24 of this year against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ is entering the bout with his impressive, 22-5 record, on a three-fight win streak against the likes of Hooker, Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw – which were all striking finishes around the two minute mark of the first round.

In the co-main event, we have another lightweight bout between fan favorite ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson and ‘Benny’ Beneil Dariush. Ferguson is coming off two losses to Oliveira and Gaethje in 2020, with a current 25-5 record, the well-rounded combat artist is ranked #5 in the division at this time. Meanwhile, Dariush, a BJJ specialist from Iran, is on a six-fight win streak, five finishes (three of them subs), making him the oddsmakers favorite here – despite carrying the rank of #9 in the division. He is coming at this bout with an impressive 20-4 record, having last lost to Alexander Hernandez at UFC 222, back in March of 2018.

Also on the card, we have an exciting Flyweight bout taking place between Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell, with his 15-5 record, after defeating Tyson Nam in January by Split Decision, who is matched up against Rogério Bontorin, sporting a 16-3 record, coming off two losses during the last year. In addition to that, we have a fun match-up between Women’s Flyweights, ‘Blonde Fighter’ Katlyn Chookagian and ‘Vivi’ Viviane Araujo. Katlyn has won her last bout via decision against Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 255, while Vivi has won her last two bouts against Roxanne Modafferi & Montana De La Rosa, both via decision. That being said, Chookagian is the Bloody Elbow staff favorite here.

These bouts will have been preceded by our featured main card opener between Shane Burgos and Edson Barboza and an extensive seven-bout undercard. What a wild night full of fights we have to share with you!
