Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor meet in a rubber match at UFC 264

Somewhere between September 2014 and January 2021, Dustin Poirier evicted Conor McGregor from his brain. The brash and belligerent McGregor who knocked out Poirier in 2014 had gotten inside Poirier’s head in the lead up to that fight. With McGregor no longer residing inside Poirer’s head in January of this year, Poirier evened the score with a knockout win of his own. The rubber match between the two takes place Saturday. That fight serves as the main event of the UFC 264 pay-per-view, which streams on ESPN+.

Poirier and McGregor have both won titles since they first met. McGregor won belts in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. The UFC stripped him of both championships without a title defense of either from McGregor. Poirier won the interim lightweight strap with a win over Max Holloway. Poirier failed to unify the titles when Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted him. Nurmagomedov also submitted McGregor when the Irish fighter looked to reclaim UFC gold.

Both fighters also have their names in the UFC record book in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. Before McGregor and Poirier face each other for a third time, take a look at where they appear in the official UFC record book.

UFC 264 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card streams on ESPN+ PPV following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+ and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ESPN+.
