Check out the betting odds for tonight’s UFC 265 card, where Ciryl Gane is favored over Derrick Lewis in the main event.
It’s fight day for UFC 265, which is blasting off tonight (August 7th) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. In the main event, we’ve got the UFC’s #2 ranked heavyweight, Derrick Lewis, and the #3 ranked, Ciryl Gane, competing for a dubious interim title. The co-main event is going down in the bantamweight division when featherweight G.O.A.T. Jose Aldo gets it popping with the UFC’s #9 ranked 135-pounder, Pedro Munhoz. Bloody Elbow is here to provide the betting lines for these top-ranked collisions, as well as for the remainder of the UFC 265 matchups.
As of our midweek betting odds post, we discovered that the oddsmakers had Ciryl Gane heavily favored over Derrick Lewis. Since the UFC 265 weigh-ins occurred, that betting line has tightened up a bit, with Gane scooting up from -400 to around -350, and Lewis dropping down from +300 to about +260. What’s the reason for this shift? Could it be “The Black Beast” going all alpha at the presser and face-off in forty of a home crowd, or is it gamblers remembering just how experienced, powerful, and dangerous Lewis can be? Whatever the reason, this line slimmed down quicker than OSP after a heavyweight L.
The bookies do not foresee this silly interim title fight making it all 25-minutes. To be clear, the fight isn’t silly, it’s an excellent scrap, but the fact that there’s a title up for grabs is absurd when we already have an undisputed heavyweight champion in Francis Ngannou. Anyways, the prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ is labeled with a strongly favored moneyline of -200, with a +150 comeback on the ‘Fight goes to decision’ option.
Digging a little deeper into the props, we find that the exotic bet ‘Gane wins inside distance’ is posted up at -110, with the ‘Lewis wins inside distance’ wager soaring high up in underdog territory at +333. ‘Gane wins by TKO/KO’ is trending at +125, and ‘Lewis wins by TKO/KO’ has been spotted in altitude as lofty as +400. The over/under 2.5 rounds proposition can be found at a pick’em line. ‘Over 2.5 rounds’ is available at around -105, with ‘Under 2.5 rounds’ residing at both -110 and +110 lines alike, depending on where you look.
Let’s take a quick gander at the UFC 265 co-main event betting odds. Earlier in the week, we saw Jose Aldo’s favored line trim down to around -112, and witnessed Pedro Munhoz drop out of underdog territory to the point where he no longer could be found with a plus line. The best value you could seek out for Pedro was about -108, but now he has popped back up at +100 on a couple of sites. Aldo is still holding down the fort at -110.
