Buckle up, this could be a wild one.
This weekend we have UFC 266 with a title double-header on top. In the main event Alexander Volkanovski looks to defend his featherweight title versus Brian Ortega. In the co-main Valentina Shevchenko defends her flyweight title versus Lauren Murphy.
The weigh-ins for this event could be pretty interesting. With two title fights on tap, four fighters will need to make weight without an extra pound allowance. Volkanovski and Shevchenko have never appeared to have problems with this in the past, but this is new territory for Ortega and Murphy and—last time out—Ortega needed an emergency haircut to make weight.
There’s also The People’s Main Event between Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler. This fight was a welterweight bout until a few days ago when it was shifted to middleweight. So who knows where those fighters will clock in on the scales.
The prelims have Dan Hooker and Nasrat Haqparast, two fighters who have been struggling with visa issues and have had to cut some of the weight while in-flight.
The early prelims also have a fighter to watch on the scales, with Jalin Turner likely to bring along his pet tarantula for the ride.
