This one was for Trevor Wittman.
Justin Gaethje has reacted following his grueling unanimous decision victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 268, crediting coach Trevor Wittman for the win.
“All glory to God. I wasn’t leaving tonight without my chance to put another strap on Trevor Wittman’s wall,” Gaethje, the former interim UFC lightweight champion, posted on Instagram following the fight.
Wittman coached students Gaethje, Rose Namajunas, and Kamaru Usman all to success at UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden in New York, with all three fighters picking up victories on the main card, two of whom (Namajunas, Usman) successfully defended their UFC strawweight and welterweight titles.
Gaethje went to war with Chandler in a sensational three-round fight to kick off the main card while teammates Namajunas and Usman both picked up decision victories over Weili Zhang and Colby Covington in the co-main and main event.
Gaethje believes his victory over Chandler puts him in line for another crack at the lightweight title and plans to ‘riot’ if the UFC doesn’t grant him his wish. ‘The Highlight’ is currently #2 in the UFC lightweight rankings.
