We are just two days away from UFC 268 in New York, which will be the promotion’s first show at Madison Square Garden since 2019. In the main event, reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman takes on rival Colby Covington in a rematch of their UFC 245 thriller, which Usman won by TKO. The other title fight rematch is in the co-main event, as Rose Namajunas looks to make it 2-for-2 against Zhang Weili and remain the women’s strawweight champion.
Opening the main card is a highly anticipated lightweight clash between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. I don’t think this one will go the full 15 minutes.
Before they go inside the Octagon and before they even weigh-in on Friday, there’s the matter of the pre-fight press conference. As expected, the main event fighters engaged in a level of trash talk that was exactly that… trash. Things then got physical in the staredowns, with Usman shoving Covington, something that has definitely never happened before in the history of combat sports press conferences.
