Here are the live results and highlights for the UFC 283 main event light heavyweight title fight between Glover Teixeira and Jamahal.

Check back in on this post later on to see who won the UFC 283 main event, which is going down from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This post will cover the vacant light heavyweight title fight between the former champion, Glover Teixeira, and surging contender, Jamahal Hill. At UFC 282 back in December, Jan B?achowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fought for the vacant 205-pound strap, but after the contest resulted in a split draw, Dana White announced that Glover and Jamahal would then fight for the crown.

At 43-years-old, Glover is a seasoned vet who is as well-rounded as they come, with his biggest detriment being his unavoidable battle with Father time. Teixeira had a marvelous run to the top, finding ways to school his younger counterparts to ultimately realize a world title. If he wants to get back his gold, he is going to have first get through a young and hungry lion in Hill. Jamahal has only lost once in his career (when Paul Craig took his arm home) and since then has posted up a trio of brutal knockouts. Speed kills, and Hill definitely has it. It’s a good thing, too, because he will need every bit of it to avoid Glover’s salty dog tactics.

The early prelims begin at 5:30pm ET/1:00pm, PT, immediately followed by the regular preliminary card. Both broadcasts can be streamed on ESPN+. The PPV main card is slated for 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT, and can be purchased on ESPN+.

Jamahal Hilldef. Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision (50-44 x3): Light Heavyweight Title

It didn’t take very long for Teixeira to close the distance, but Hill defended well and remained vertical. Hill was utilizing his kicks from range, looking to keep Glover on the outside. Hill followed up with his straight punches, still making the most of his length. Just as Teixeira started to get his own boxing going, he accidentally poked Hill in the eye. Not much time was taken by Jamahal to recover, allowing the fight to get back underway.

We got another eye poke within the first-minute of the second round, but this one was from Hill. After a brief timeout, the fight going again. Hill then wobbled Teixeira with a big head kick, and then swarmed the former champ. Teixeira was king a good job of rolling with the punches, but some flush uppercuts got through. Then, Glover stung Hill with a huge counter to get himself back into the fight. Then came Glover’s takedown with a lot of time left on the clock. He controlled from the top for a bit, but Hill defended well and worked his up. What a round!

Teixeira went right to the takedown to open the third round, but Hill fought hard to avoid it. Hill went back to the head kick and wobbled Teixeira again. Glover fell down, and Hill got on top to start pounding away. As Teixeira started to defend from the bottom, Hill wisely allowed him to stand up. Somehow, Teixeira kept pushing forward and continued to throw punches.

Teixeira found a way to close the distance to begin the fourth round, but Hill again defended the takedown. In one space, Hill started to open up with some volume He was still launching his head kick, and following up with his straight punches. As the round went was dwindling down, Hill started to empty his gas tank. He was unloading punch after punch to the head, and knee after knee to the body. The referee could have stopped the fight at any point, but Glover made it to the bell.

The doctor came in to check on Teixeira before the start of the fifth round, and deemed him fit to continue. The round began and Teixeira realized a takedown with over four-minutes to go. The former champ made his way into the full mount, but Hill escaped through the back door to get on top. The fight returned to its feet, but Teixeira was unable to find much needed finish.
