This weekend (Sat., June 1, 2024) at UFC 302, the Lightweight title is on the line in Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center. Headlining the event will be the reigning champion, Islam Makhachev, who seeks redemption in his record-tying third title defense against the perennial Lightweight elite and No. 4-ranked contender, Dustin Poirier. The co-main event will see top Middleweight contenders collide as the former champion, Sean Strickland, takes on Brazil’s Paulo Costa. A win for either would get them back in the win column after decision losses at the start of the year to Dricus du Plessis and Robert Whittaker, respectively.
The fighters atop the billing squared off for their first staredowns at the pre-fight press conference today (Thurs., May 30, 2024).
