The Octagon is heading to the Republic of Ireland’s capital city on August 15th.
It’s been a long time since the UFC held an event in Dublin, Ireland. That wait is now finally over.
Officials announced on Thursday that the Octagon is headed to 3Arena on August 15th, with tickets on sale June 26th.
“We kicked off the year with a phenomenal comeback from Conor McGregor at UFC 246, and now we are thrilled to announce our return to Ireland after four-years. With Irish fans amongst the most passionate UFC supporters in the world, and Dublin being such an iconic global city, we can’t wait to put on another world class event for our fans there,” said UFC Senior Vice President, International and Content, David Shaw.
This will be the UFC’s first event in Dublin since 2015, when Louis Smolka beat Paddy Holohan in a last-minute three-round headliner. The original main event between Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier was cancelled after Duffy suffered an injury. Most memorably, Conor McGregor headlined the UFC’s 2014 trip to Dublin, winning by first-round TKO against Diego Brandao in front of a raucous and adoring crowd.
No fights or broadcast details have been announced yet for this card, but it’s likely to be streamed exclusively on ESPN+ in the United States. Regardless of who’s headlining, you can expect one hell of a cauldron of noise inside the 3Arena.
