The UFC might return to Germany this year with an event on September 3, but jumped the gun with an early post that has quickly been deleted.
The UFC will likely return to Germany on September 3 of this year with an event in Hamburg, the country’s second-biggest major city.
The organization released an official news post this morning on the US and German version of their website, but deleted it shortly thereafter. Insiders expected a pertinent announcement at the post-fight presser of UFC Fight Night Rotterdam this Sunday. Now European fans have received the good news a few days earlier.
Other than the venue, Hamburg’s 16,000-seat Barclaycard Arena, and the pre-sale date for tickets on May 27, no further info was included in the post. However, the card will very likely feature European and German talent for the most part, with the injured Peter Sobotta and Nick Hein as well as newly signed Jessin Ayari leading the way.
Hamburg would already be the fourth German city to host a UFC event, and the fifth UFC show overall in Germany, after UFC 99 in Cologne (2009), UFC 122 in Oberhausen (2010) and two Fight Nights in Berlin (2014, 2015).
