Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC Fight Night 162: Weidman vs. Reyes.
The TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts was home to a solid night of fights. The card saw four (T)KOs, two submissions and seven decisions, including one split-decision.
Performance of the Night: Charles Rosa, Dominick Reyes
Charles Rosa returned from an 18-month layoff to face a tough Manny Bermudez, and scored a finish less than three minutes into the fight. After the two exchanged kicks, they ended up on the ground where Bermudez rained down punches and even briefly snagged side control. Bermudez couldn’t hold the position, though, and ended up back in Rosa’s guard. Rosa searched for the armbar while Manny landed from the top, oblivious to the danger he was in. BOOM! The armbar is locked in. Bermudez screamed out with the verbal tap and Kevin MacDonald stopped the fight.
Charles Rosa gets the win and a $50K bonus
Dominick Reyes needed only 103 seconds to finish Chris Weidman in the main event. After a quick trip from Weidman, Reyes gets back to his feet in an instant, but was almost taken down again. Weidman managed to land a kick and some body shots before Reyes dropped him with a big left. Dominick followed him down and landed several hammerfists before Herb Dean intervened.

Fight of the Night: Yair Rodriguez vs. Jeremy Stephens
Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens put on one helluva entertaining scrap that saw Rodriguez launch several flying knees and Jeremy Stephens demonstrate his Adamantium chin. Round 1 was all Rodriguez, who employed a fierce kicking strategy right off the bat. He didn’t let up at all throughout that first five minutes and managed to drop Stephens off a jab just before the bell.
While Stephens was in serious trouble in Round 2, coming dangerously close to being finished with punches, referee Kevin MacDonald made the call to let the fight continue, and as a result, he came back with ferocity in Round 3, scoring power takedowns and landing a barrage of big shots from the top. That was absolutely Stephens’ round, but it was too little too late, and the judges’ decision reflected that.
Yair Rodriguez scores the win and both men take home $50K bonuses for their outstanding fight.
