Chan Sung Jung put it on Frankie Edgar to achieve a first round stoppage in the UFC Busan main event.
The UFC Busan main event was graced with the personification of violence when Chan Sung Jung put the stamp on Frankie Edgar in the first round.
The Korean Zombie was not playing around. He stuffed Edgar’s takedown attempt and proceeded to put hands on the former champ. Once Edgar was wobbled, it was only downhill for him from there. Jung landed more punches on the feet before taking top position and blasting away with strikes. Once Edgar did scramble back to his feet, more punches in bunches had his name on them. Savage hooks came flying in to drop Edgar for the second time, and a few academic ground strikes landed before the referee could pull off The Korean Zombie.
What was the highlight of the fight?
Honestly, the whole fight was pretty much a highlight. The bout only lasted 3:14 into the first round, but it was all Zombie all the time. He was landing brutal hooks that had Edgar on skates. He scored menacing ground and pound on the ground. He then sealed the deal with more of those monstrous hooks back on the feet.
Where do these two go from here?
In his post-fight interview, Jung called out the new featherweight champ, Alexander Volkanovski. With two consecutive finishes, why not put him in there and see what happens. Of course, Max Holloway is more than deserving of an instant rematch to try and reclaim his title. If the belt will be busy for a bit, then he could possible face his original opponent, Brian Ortega, if he heals up in a reasonable amount of time.
Edgar was already moving down to 135-pounds and already had a date with Cory Sandhagen before he stepped in here on short notice. Perhaps that bout will get rescheduled, if Sandhagen is willing to wait for Edgar to heal up from this beating. If that fight is no longer an option, then Edgar could face the winner, or loser, of upcoming bout Cody Garbrandt vs. Raphael Assuncao.
Watch now, later, or never?
Watch this fight right now! The Korean Zombie was poetry in motion with this performance. He landed a ton of damaging blows in a short amount of time, both on the feet and on the ground. If it’s violence that you like, then this bout is for you!
